Haslemere & District Table Tennis League
Summer League : 2009
The League has decided to introduce a Summer League this year based on the competition held by the South West Sussex Table Tennis League.
The competition will be held on 9 Wednesday evenings in July and August.
If you are interested in taking part in this please speak to other members of your club/team and organise a team, or teams, for this year’s competition - ideally a minimum of 3 or 4 players to cope with the holiday season. Alternatively let us know and we will try and place individuals in a team. Or you can arrange to link up with players from another club
Please complete the attached entry form and return to me enclosing a cheque for £30 payable to ‘HDTTA’, which is the entry fee per team, regardless of the number of team members.
Venue– Grange Community Association, Bepton Road, Midhurst
A maximum of 10 teams.
The proposed handicapswill be calculated, wherever possible, from last season’s results and will be sent out with the Fixture List. Once the competition commences the players in each team will be fixed, so players will not be allowed to play for other teams. However additional players can be added as long as this in advance of the night in order that the Handicap can be set.
Matches will consist of 5 sets (4 singles and a doubles) For the doubles the handicap will be the average handicap of the two players on each team. Only 2 players from a team should be used in the singles matches, but the remaining players (if any) can be used for the doubles. (Teams that are playing twice in an evening are allowed to field different teams in each match). One point will be awarded for each game won, with half a point in the event of a draw. At the end of the competition if two (or more) teams are level on points, the winning team will be the one that scored more table tennis points in the matches played. Trophies will be presented to the winning team.
A maximum of 4 Tableswill be used with matches either scheduled Early or Late. The Fixture List will show a Time (E – Early, or L – Late). The Early matches will commence around 7.30 p.m. and are expected to finish around 8.45 p.m. There will then be a short break before the Late matches start at around 9.00 p.m.
The evening is expected to finish at around 10.15 p.m.
